“In its simplest form, marketing is storytelling—we are storytellers.”

I come from a long line of storytellers, and over the years I have learned a thing or two about telling stories. A good storyteller captivates an audience, illustrates a thought, and prompts a response from the listener. I have seen attitudes improve, smiles form, and lives changed all because of a good story. I believe that at the core of every business, organization, product, and service there is a story to tell. Some folks call this marketing, others call it branding, but really what it is, is storytelling. With every website that we build, photo that we shoot, video that we film, status update we post, flyer that we create, and mobile application we develop, we tell a story. You see, all marketing and branding efforts need to captivate, illustrate, and prompt. Without those three elements it’s all just a waste of time–no one will remember the story. My question is, who is telling your story? I am always looking for a good story to tell…

It's all about the details. I have always been intrigued by how the little things matter so much. Usually it is something that makes you enjoy a product more. Sometimes it is something so minor that you do not realize the details—but you like the overall product. I try to incorporate these details into everything I do. Often, it is easy to overlook, but when paid attention to, the minor details become major focal points.

“Originality is overrated. Fresh is where it’s at.” – Steven Furtick

When it comes down to it, I am a person who loves being creative. I enjoy cooking, baking, playing and recording music, and, of course, spending time behind the camera. All of these passions allow me to be creative in each environment. I love working in those environments because it allows me to create something that is my own; it makes me an individual. At Birdeye when I look through the viewfinder I see opportunity to capture and create photos that are new and different. I don’t believe being creative means I have to come up with original ideas that nobody has ever thought of. What creativity is to me is being able to bring a new vision and perspective to an already existing idea like your business and brand. I like to take the old and add a fresh new view.

"Curiosity about life in all of its aspects, I think, is still the secret of great creative people." – Leo Burnett

Over the last couple of years I've had the privilege of getting to travel all over the world and experience many different cultures, foods, and design styles. The curiosity that I have for life and the world, stretches me to learn more and improve my creativity in design. The world of design is constantly changing, which is what really drew me to it. I like to do new things and constantly strive to improve my skills. To me, the possibilities are endless when it comes to creativity and I like to stretch myself and my abilities to make a design that our clients will be excited about.

Many people say that “knowledge is power.” I am a person who absolutely loves learning and I am constantly researching and searching for new subjects, ideas, and methodologies to study. However, without creativity and careful execution, knowledge is just wasted brain-space. Creativity is where we take the knowledge we have and move it from our heads to our hands, and when that happens, something beautiful is born. From recording bands in my home studio to laying out the content on your webpages—extensive research, creativity, and careful execution is what I bring to the table every time, and the result is always beautiful.

I am up for the challenge! Are you? Lets create something beautiful!

Public Relations Intern

I believe that PR is more than a press release or an event. Public relations is about building relationships with clients. Everyone has a story to tell, and that does not exclude businesses. PR is about listening to your clients’ story, understanding what he or she wants and making it happen.  PR is a challenge and I love to be challenged. Not only can I improve my skills and grow as an individual, but I can help someone else’s brand flourish at the same time.

Birdeye History

Birdeye was founded in 2008 with two computers on card tables in a basement. Since then, Birdeye founders Jeremy Kane and Luke Martin have aggressively pursued transforming Birdeye into a first-choice branding agency, offering comprehensive marketing solutions. A lot has changed since we first opened for business—the card tables are gone and we have outgrown the basement. There is one thing that we have kept since our obscure beginning, and that is our passion for providing valuable services to our clients.
